The French National Gendarmerie’s UNCyber unit is recruiting a cybersecurity expert to bolster its capabilities in digital investigations and combating cybercrime. Established through decree on November 23, 2023, UNCyber is part of the UNPJ (National Judicial Police) and operates as the gendarmerie’s operational unit for cyber intelligence, investigation, and technical support. The unit, comprised of 120 personnel across three divisions, focuses on a wide range of cybercrime, including cybercriminality of a high level, and coordinates with other UNCyber units and Cybergend.
Specifically, the Division Technique, where this expert will be assigned, specializes in technical and forensic expertise, supporting local branches. The role centers around utilizing complex tools to search, identify, extract, analyze, and process data from various systems, including connected devices. This goes beyond simply retrieving data; it requires interpreting the data, connecting it to other evidence, and developing methods for its effective use within a legal framework.
The candidate will be subject to military status and must obtain a national defense secret clearance. The position requires adaptability, rigor, autonomy, responsibility, and initiative, alongside strong communication and organizational skills. The unit operates under legal frameworks including Article L. 4132-10 of the Code of Defense, and related decrees. The expert will be responsible for upholding military values, including service, availability, adaptability, reserve, and a high level of integrity.
