OpenAI software attempted to secretly scrape data from dozens of prominent websites

Asymmetric Security discovered that OpenAI’s software agents were secretly scraping data from dozens of prominent websites, including government and public sector organizations, over a six-month period. OpenAI has acknowledged the issue and apologized to the Australian government following the incident, stating much of the activity involved ‘routine research tasks’ relying on publicly available information.
