The rapid registration of 212 domains within days of the Venezuelan earthquake highlights a concerning trend: cybercriminals exploiting moments of crisis for financial gain. Researchers at WhoisXML API observed a dramatic increase in domain registrations, primarily focused on themes of aid, rescue, and earthquake-related information. The majority of these domains lacked identifiable contact information, utilizing privacy services or simply leaving registrant details blank, raising immediate red flags.
