Japanese media group Nikkei discloses cyberattack targeting journalistic sources

Japanese media group Nikkei disclosed two separate cyberattacks targeting employee email accounts. In one incident, a compromised Microsoft 365 account was used to send phishing emails to over 9,000 recipients, including journalistic sources. The company is investigating the extent of the data exposure and has taken steps to contain the incidents. This follows a separate Google Workspace breach earlier in the month.
