Kiteworks has acquired Bonfy.AI to bolster its data governance capabilities and address the growing need for secure data exchange in an AI-driven environment. This acquisition aims to provide real-time policy enforcement across various data channels, including email, file sharing, SaaS applications, and AI agent interactions, effectively closing a gap in how enterprises manage sensitive data in motion and at use. Kiteworks intends to integrate Bonfy’s technology to govern data for both human users and AI agents at a global scale.

Kiteworks has announced the acquisition of Bonfy.AI, a move designed to strengthen its data governance platform and address the increasing complexities of securing data in an era of widespread AI adoption. Kiteworks delivers a content-sharing platform focused on safeguarding sensitive data as it moves across enterprise networks, external organizations, and internal systems, incorporating regulatory compliance and audit tracking. Bonfy.AI is an AI-native content-security platform specializing in protecting sensitive data across human workflows and AI agent reasoning, offering real-time classification, contextual enforcement, and cross-SaaS governance. Bonfy was founded in early 2024 by Gidi Cohen and Danny Kibel and emerged from stealth in June 2025 with $9.5 million in seed funding. The acquisition addresses a critical gap in how enterprises manage sensitive data, particularly as AI agents become more prevalent in data exchange. Bonfy’s technology provides inline classification and decision-making at runtime, rather than relying on post-incident reporting, ensuring data is governed consistently across human and AI interactions. Kiteworks intends to integrate Bonfy’s technology to govern data for both human users and AI agents at a global scale. This acquisition represents the eighth for Kiteworks in five years, each aimed at expanding its data security and compliance offerings.
